Organizing for environmental justice and AAPI political power across the South
Stephanie Cho spent years as executive director of Asian Americans Advancing Justice–Atlanta, the organization that champions the civil and human rights of Asian Americans in Georgia and across the Southeast. Now she is leading its newest initiative, Democracy Lab South.
The project has two focuses: environmental justice work here in Atlanta, and building Asian American and Pacific Islander political power in several other southern states.
Stephanie brings more than 20 years of experience in labor and community organizing, strategic planning and fundraising at both the local and national level. Before coming to Atlanta, she was Los Angeles director of the Restaurant Opportunities Center, where she pushed to raise industry standards and wages for the city’s restaurant workers. Her career has also included roles as a community organizer, program director for LGBTQ+ youth programming, director of training for a national fellowship program, labor organizer and organizational consultant.
